I. LÝ THUYẾT:

A) Cách sử dụng so sánh hơn của tính từ

► Chúng ta sử dụng so sánh hơn của tính từ để thể hiện sự khác nhau giữa 2 vật được đề cập đến trong một trường hợp.

Ví dụ: Tom is taller than Mary.

B) Công thức so sánh hơn của tính từ

1) Công thức so sánh của tính từ ngắn

S1 + be + tính từ ngắn -ER - than + S2

Ví dụ: He is richer than me.

Lưu ý:

► Nếu tính từ ngắn tận cùng bằng y, đổi y thành i rồi mới thêm er.

Ví dụ: happy -> happier

►Nếu tính từ ngắn tận cùng bằng e, ta chỉ cần thêm r thôi.

Ví dụ: late -> later

► Nếu tính từ ngắn tận cùng bằng 1 phụ âm + 1 nguyên âm + 1 phụ âm, ta viết phụ âm cuối thêm 1 lần nữa (gấp đôi phụ âm cuối) rồi mới thêm er.

Ví dụ: big -> bigger

hot -> hotter

2) Công thức so sánh của tính từ dài

S1 + be + MORE + tính từ dài - than + S2

Ví dụ: Mai is more beautiful than her sister.

A city is more modern than a village.

► Ngoại lệ: 

good -> better 

bad -> worse

far -> farther/ further

many/ much -> more

little -> less

II. BÀI TẬP:

1) Complete the following sentences with the comparative form of the adjectives ( Page 41 ) 

1. This building is taller than  that building.  (tall)

2. My neighbourhood is ................. than your neighbourhood. (noisy)

3. The square in Ha Noi is ............. than the square in Hoi An. (big)

4. Living in a city is normally ............. than living in the countryside. (expensive)

5. Is living in a city ................ than living in the countryside?  (exciting)
